After being arrested by the National Police, Rodrigo Basilar faces an annulment application in the Turkish Supreme Court

The arrest warrant for Bacelar was issued by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), in response to a request from the Federal Police (PF), on suspicion of leaking information from the operation that arrested State Rep. Thiego Raymundo dos Santos Silva, known as TH Jóias (MDB).

The trial at the TSE involves suspected use of resources from the Center for Statistics, Research and Training of Public Personnel (Ceperj) to employ electoral vote auditors, through a staff “secret paper”.

In November, the rapporteur of the case, Minister Isabel Galeotti, voted to impeach and disqualify Castro and Basilar, having understood that there had been an abuse of political and economic power. But the trial was halted at the request of Minister Antonio Carlos Ferreira.

The deadline for returning the visa to TSE is 60 days. Ferreira initially indicated that he could release the case within a short period of up to 15 days. However, he then noted that he should be using it near the maximum, as explained in writer Malou Gaspard’s blog.

Last year, the Regional Electoral Tribunal of Rio de Janeiro (TRE-RJ) acquitted Castro and Basilar, by a vote of four to three. However, the Ministry appealed the general election, as did the coalition of defeated candidate Marcelo Freixo, the current Imperator president.

At the beginning of the trial, Isabel Galeotti stated that Basselar used his “strategic position” to direct resources that could have been used in the campaign:

– Claudio Castro appears in a central position in the scheme, as he issued the regulations that made the violations possible. The Minister said that Rodrigo Basilar used his strategic position to allocate public resources to the Uerg and Seberg region.

Chief Al-Arj’s defense stated that the allegations were general and no evidence had been presented.
