During the expulsion gala, Ramones’ intervention was perceived by many users as an act of censorship against Kim Shantal, who said: “Why don’t you give him the prize (to Eleazar) and we all go home? Well, the truth is, it seems super unfair to me.”.
The Influencers argued that Gómez’s behavior was unpleasant for several participants, noting: “He spends his time harassing us, he doesn’t respect personal space, I have to feel his drool here all the time, when he’s drunk, isn’t all this forbidden? We have four days to put up with him, endure his harassment, his rudeness, his swearing…”.
Despite Kim’s insistence, Ramones repeatedly interrupted her and pointed out that the matter should only be discussed among those directly involved.
“Kim, Kim… Kim, I ask you, please be silent, this matter should only be discussed with the two of them, only with the two of them, Kim is not your case, it is not your time, you are not included in the panorama, I will continue, Kim, please… this is the fourth time I ask you…, I have to move on,” said the driver.
The public reaction was immediate. Comments on social media criticized Ramones’ intervention, saying Kim Shantal’s interruption represented a rejection of her statement and pointed to alleged “sexist” and “misogynistic” behavior on Ramones’ part reality.
In an interview with the show Window construction, Adal Ramones explained the reasons for his decision to no longer allow Kim Shantal to speak.
The driver explained: “Firstly, it must be made clear, it is a live program, there is a pre-determined script, there are exact minutes and time beats us, it is my turn to place the order, some like it… some don’t, but… we were a trend.”as he explained.
Ramones added that while he appreciated Kim defending his positions, the production’s decision was to limit the debate to the participants directly involved, i.e. Eleazar Gómez and “el Patrón.” The driver argued:
“Suddenly they say, ‘You didn’t let Kim speak, why didn’t you let Kim speak?’ because it wasn’t a debate, the issue was between them both, but Kim obviously defended what she thought was fair and started debating because otherwise everyone would have the right to speak; I want the public to know that we read them, we listen to them.”.
