
Fortaleza announced this Thursday the hiring of coach Thiago Carpini in place of the Argentinian Martín Palermo, for the 2026 season. Palermo led the team in the fight against relegation to Serie B, he even led Leão in a streak of nine games without losing, but did not avoid the fall. By mutual agreement with the club, he leaves technical command to Carpini.
– Tricolor friends, we have come to announce the news that we have recruited Tiago Carpini as coach of Fortaleza with the main objective of Leão’s return to Serie A of the Brazilian Championship. He is a young and modern coach, he has done a good job, where he reached this division with Juventude and worked in Serie A – said the CEO of Fortaleza EC SAF, Marcelo Paz.
Carpini left the command of Juventude at the end of the Brazilian Championship. He announced in advance that he would leave the team at the end of the tournament. The Rio Grande do Sul team was also relegated.
During his second period, Thiago Carpini played 22 matches, with six wins, six draws and ten defeats (success rate of 36.3%).
In the case of the Argentine coach, the club indicated that “Palermo finishes his cycle at Leão do Pici with professionalism, dedication and strong identification with the Club. Throughout his tenure he has shown commitment and has been fundamental in the home stretch of this year”, informed the club.
And he continued by thanking him for the work carried out by the coach and the committee and “that the new directions he chooses continue to reflect the same seriousness and commitment he has shown with us”.
Under his command, the team played 17 matches, with eight wins, four draws and five losses, a performance of 54.9%.
