Senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN), leader of the opposition in the Senate, declared that the presidents of the PP, Ciro Nogueira, and of União Brasil, Antonio Rueda, would consult the benches on the support for the pre-candidacy of Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) for the presidency in 2026. This declaration was made after a meeting at the home of the son of the former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), in Brasilia, Monday evening. (8/12).
“Senator Flávio outlined the conditions of his campaign, his candidacy, the need to be together and what he intends to present as a country project. Ciro and Rueda, who today represent a future federation, have been very receptive and will talk to their parties to make a decision,” Marinho said.
Centrão leaders did not immediately show support for Flávio’s pre-candidacy. According to Marinho, “the definition (of the candidacy) was not communicated in advance to the allied parties, to those who are within the same project.”
The meeting with the son of the former president brought together the president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, as well as the leaders of the União Progressista federation.
After announcing last Friday (12/05) that he would be the candidate of the political group in place of his father, Flávio began to seek the support of the center parties to consolidate his electoral project.
The discussion revolves around the conditions he set for abandoning the conflict: the granting of an amnesty to those involved in January 8 and to his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
