FGV launches IPC-S for the first four weeks of December – The Brazilian Institute of Economics of the Fundação Getulio Vargas (Ibre-FGV) publishes, at 8 a.m., the Consumer Price Index – Weekly (CPI-S) for the first four weeks of December. The CPI-S for the fourth four weeks of November 2025 increased by 0.28% and accumulated an increase of 4.03% over the past 12 months.
British Columbia publishes this week’s Focus newsletter – The Central Bank (CB) publishes, at 8:25 a.m., the Focus bulletin for the week ending December 5. The median of market economists’ projections for official Brazilian inflation in 2025 fell for the third consecutive week, from 4.45% to 4.43%. For 2026, the median expectations for the National Consumer Price Index (PCAI) increased from 4.18% to 4.17%, for 2027 they remained at 3.80% for the fourth consecutive week and, for 2028, they remained at 3.50%, also for the fourth consecutive week. For the base interest rate (Selic), the median estimate remained at 15% at the end of 2025, for the 23rd consecutive week; it remained at 12% at the end of 2026, remained at 10.50% in 2027 for the 42nd week and, for 2028, increased from 9.75% to 9.50%. Median growth projections for the Brazilian economy in 2025 remained at 2.16% for the fifth consecutive week. Anfavea announces the performance of the automotive industry in November – Anfavea announces, at 10 a.m., the performance of the automobile industry in November. The Brazilian automotive industry recorded a decline in sales and production in October 2025, compared to the same month last year, but saw indicators progress compared to September. The sector closed the month with 260.7 thousand vehicles registered, a decrease of 1.6% compared to October 2024 and an increase of 7.2% compared to the previous month. The increase on a monthly basis mainly comes from the light vehicle segment. From January to October, sales totaled 2.17 million units, an increase of 2.2%. Brazilian vehicle production increased by 1.8% in October compared to September, reaching 247.7 thousand units, but decreased by 0.5% compared to the same month of 2024. From January to October, production this year accumulates 2.234 million light and heavy vehicles, an increase of 5.2%.
Secex presents the trade balance for the first week of December – The Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (Mdic) presents, at 3 p.m., the result of the trade balance for the first week of December. In November, exports totaled $28.5 billion and imports totaled $22.7 billion, with a positive balance of $5.8 billion and trade flows of $51.2 billion. During the year, exports totaled $317.8 billion and imports totaled $260 billion, with a positive balance of $57.8 billion and trade flows of $577.8 billion.
New York Fed releases consumer inflation expectations for November – The Federal Reserve of New York publishes, at 1 p.m. (Brasilia time), the index of inflation expectations of American consumers for November. The October index has not been collected and there are no estimates.
US Treasury Holds 3-Year Treasury Auction – The US Treasury Department is holding an auction of 3-year Treasury bonds. At 3 p.m. (Brasilia time), the results are known.
UK releases November retail sales – The British Retail Consortium (BRC) reports, at 9:01 p.m. (Brasilia time), retail sales data in the United Kingdom for the month of November.
Lula receives the president of the Latin American Development Bank – President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva receives at 9 a.m. the Minister of Civil Home, Rui Costa. At 11 a.m., he welcomes the president of the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), Sergio DÃaz-Granados Guida.
