This Thursday (December 11, 2025), Time Magazine named the “Architects of Artificial Intelligence (AI)” Personality of the Year because their work in developing this cutting-edge technology is transforming humanity.
Jensen Huang of Nvidia; Sam Altman of OpenAI; and xAI’s Elon Musk are among the entrepreneurs who have “taken the helm of history, developing technologies and making decisions that are transforming the information landscape, the climate and our livelihoods,” he noted.
“They realigned government policies, changed geopolitical rivalries and brought robots into homes. AI has emerged as the most relevant tool in great power competition since the advent of nuclear weapons,” he added.
A cover of the magazine featured eight industry businessmen sitting on a beam above a city. The illustration is reminiscent of an iconic 1932 photo showing a group of construction workers taking a break in a New York skyscraper.
In 2024, Time chose US President Donald Trump as Personality of the Year.
The award, presented since 1927, typically recognizes influential figures on the international scene, even if it is not necessarily popular or supported by the magazine. Their list ranges from Adolf Hitler in 1938 to pop star Taylor Swift in 2023.
