The temporary accommodation platform Airbnb announced this Monday that, as it did last year, it would use technology to prevent customers from using the platform’s accommodations to organize end-of-year parties. New Year’s Eve.
The platform recalled that with this technology … prevented more than 2,600 people in Spain made reservations on December 31 last year. The objective of the initiative is to reduce events that cause inconvenience to the community, as well as to promote respectful stays both with neighbors and locals and with the community itself.
This initiative, which in addition to Spain is available in France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and Australia, identifies reservations that could present a higher risk of organizing a party.
Thus, the platform blocks or redirects travelers to other advertisements on the platform. Since the policy and associated measures were introduced five years ago, the overall rate of listings received by Airbnb decreased by more than 50%.
On the other hand, Airbnb also urged users to refrain from making or facilitating reservations with their account for third parties or minors under the age of 18. If a user does not respect these rules, the platform deletes their account and cancels their reservations, with the possibility that the account holder must assume the financial consequences of possible material damage caused to the accommodation.
