Lima Alliance still dreams of being among the four best teams in the world Volleyball Club World Championship 2025. The valuable victory achieved this Wednesday, December 10, against Zhetysu VC revitalized the team ‘intimate’which finished the second round with three points and keeps its chances of fighting for a place in the semi-finals intact. With the Group A Red Hot, here we describe all classification scenarios.
After a difficult debut – losing in straight sets to host Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde – the two-time Peruvian champion bounced back with a convincing performance against the Asian champions. The team led by Facundo Morando won 3:1 and was fully in the race to advance to the next phase of the competition.
However, Alianza Lima’s future no longer depends only on what is achieved on the group’s final day. Savino Del Bene Scandicci’s stunning 3-0 win over Osasco completely changed the situation and left the team ‘intimate’ in a more difficult situation, now forced not only to win but also to wait for favorable results to aim for a place in the semi-finals.
1° Savino Del Bene Scandicci – 2 PG / 0 PP / 6 points
2 Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde – 1 PG / 1 PP / 3 points
3. Lima Alliance – 1 PG / 1 PP / 3 points
4. Zhetysu VC – 0 PG / 2 PP / 0 points
The tournament regulations specify that ties in the standings will be resolved based on these criteria: first, the total number of wins; then the match points received; then the quantity quotient; then the quotient of the points; and finally the result of the direct confrontation between the teams involved.

Alianza Lima won 3-1 against Zhetysu VC on the second matchday of Group A and picked up 3 points. However, after Savino Del Bene Scandicci’s 3-0 win over Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde, qualification prospects became complicated. The chances now depend on both the performance of the Peruvian team in the last game and the result of the last duel between Osasco and Zhetysu.
To advance to the semi-finals, Facundo Morando’s team must fulfill one unavoidable condition: winning his last game against Savino Del Bene. From then on there are three possible scenarios, depending on the outcome of the other group game:
Scenario A – Ideal
- Osasco loses to Zhetysu (any marking).
- Alianza beats Savino (any result 3-2, 3-1 or 3-0): Alianza finishes with more wins than Osasco (first tiebreaker) and secures its pass.
Scenario B – Middle School
- Osasco wins 3-2 against Zhetysu.
- Alianza beats Savino 3-0 or 3-1: Both would equalize the number of wins, but Alianza would qualify with the best result in the table.
Scenario C – To the limit
- Osasco wins 3-1 against Zhetysu.
- Alianza defeated Savino 3-0 (required): They would be equal in wins, points and even set ratio; Classification would be determined by the points coefficient at the end of the round.
This must be taken into account If Osasco beats Zhetysu 3-0, Alianza will automatically be eliminated, even if they manage to beat Savino 3-0 in their last game. In this case, the Brazilian team would reach a higher and unattainable set ratio ‘intimate’who could not make up for the disadvantage they had against the hosts on the first day of the match.

For Alianza Lima to achieve its dream of reaching the semi-finals, the best possible scenario is:
– Mandatory win against Savino Del Bene.
-And one of these two things:
- May Osasco lose to Zhetysu.
- Let Osasco win, but by a narrow score (3:2), and let Alianza also win with a clear margin (ideal 3:0, acceptable 3:1).
With these two results, the small team is one of the four best clubs in the world, without being dependent on other results or tiebreakers.
The duel between Alianza Lima and Savino Del Bene Scandicci is scheduled for this Thursday, December 11th, starting at 3:00 p.m. Peru hours. It will be a crucial duel for the “Faithful”, who will play everything for everything with the hope of securing a historic place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Club World Cup.
