Who is entitled to the benefit
Workers in the private sector (PIS) and civil servants (Pasep) are entitled to the wage bonus which, in the reference year 2024:
- They have been registered with PIS/Pasep for at least five years;
- They have worked formally, with a formal contract, for at least 30 days, consecutive or not;
- They received an average monthly remuneration within the fixed limit;
- The data has been correctly reported by the employer to the federal government (via RAIS or eSocial).
What changes in 2026
The rules for access to the salary bonus will undergo changes next year. Until 2025, the income criterion to be entitled to PIS/Pasep was to receive up to two minimum salaries per month during the reference year. In 2026, this limit will no longer be linked to the minimum and will only be adjusted for inflation.
In practice, this means that the income ceiling to benefit from the allowance will increase more slowly than the minimum wage, which tends to gradually reduce the number of beneficiaries over the years.
The rule is in a transition phase until this limit reaches the equivalent of 1.5 minimum wages, at which point it will become permanent.
The value of the PIS/Pasep remains proportional to seniority in the reference year, those who worked the full 12 months of 2024 receive the equivalent of a minimum wage, while those who worked less time receive proportionally less.
How to check and withdraw the service
To check if they are entitled to the allowance, the worker can log in to the Digital Work Card application, using their CPF and gov.br password, or make a request by calling 158, from Alô Trabalho.
Concerning the withdrawal of sums, according to the MTE, deposits will be made automatically:
Private sector workers (PIS) receive remuneration from the Caixa Econômica Federal; Civil servants (Pasep) are paid by Banco do Brasil.
