The shares of the owner of the Havaianas brand end the trading session higher, reversing the devaluation that occurred in the previous session.
Alpargatas, the company that owns the Havaianas brand, recorded an increase in its market value this Tuesday (23). The performance of the shares on the Brazilian stock exchange led to the recovery of the capitalization lost the day before and the expansion of the total value of the company, according to CNN.
At the end of the trading session, the organization’s preferred shares (ALPA4) showed an increase of 4.02%, trading at R$11.90. At the same time, ordinary shares (ALPA3) recorded an increase of 8.73%, reaching the value of R$10.96.
The day before, Monday (22), preferred assets had fallen by 2.39%. According to data from Elos Ayta Consultoria, the market value of Alpargatas increased on that date from R$7.444 billion to R$7.292 billion, which represents a reduction of R$152 million. With the positive variation of this Tuesday, the company’s market capitalization reached R$7.747 billion, an increase of R$455 million compared to the previous level.
By 2025, Alpargatas will be among the 15 most profitable companies on the Brazilian stock exchange. The return recorded over the period is greater than 113%. This index follows a four-year period in which the company’s shares recorded consecutive declines.
The move of assets occurred at a time of fallout from the Havaianas brand’s new advertising campaign, featuring actress Fernanda Torres. In promotional materials, the actress uses the term “right foot” in an analogy about expectations for the next cycle.
In the video script, the ad element has the following line: “I’m sorry, but I don’t want you to start 2026 off on the right foot. It’s nothing against luck, but let’s face it… luck doesn’t depend on you. What I want is for you to start the new year with two feet, two feet on the road at the door, two feet on the road, two feet in the jackfruit, two feet wherever you want”. The content sparked criticism from political representatives, correlating the expression with the right-wing ideological spectrum.
