Five decades after Ana Belén and Víctor Manuel began one of the most enduring sentimental and professional stories in Spanish culture, they appeared once again as complicit as ever when they appeared in The uprisingDavid Broncano’s program on La 1. The couple went into the room to talk about their upcoming musical commitments, exchange anecdotes and, without intending to, reveal some of it the strangest secrets of their life together.
The appointment came at an important time for both of them. Víctor Manuel, who released his album in November just alone with meis preparing an extensive tour that will begin in March 2026. For her part, Ana Belén is in the final stages of a tour that will culminate in Madrid on December 23rd. Two parallel paths that meet again on the stage of the program and radiate naturalness and humor from the first minutes.
As soon as they walked onto the set, the couple handed over to Broncano. a box of marzipan from Toledo. “What else could it be at this point?” Ana Belén commented with a laugh. The presenter, true to his style, soon tried the sweet life and reciprocated the gesture with some very peculiar gifts: a double pillow, a two-tone T-shirt with two heads printed on it and some diplomas that attested this with humor “the real Ana and Víctor.”
The relaxed atmosphere paved the way for one of the most discussed topics of the evening: dancing. Broncano recalled dancing bachata with Ana Belén on a previous visit, after which the artist encouraged him to continue practicing. “You dance well,” admitted the presenter. “I danced as best I could, I’m not a great dancer either, but well (…) I’m a danger in that sense because I step on my feet a lot, I cause traffic problems by dancing“.
The conversation soon turned to Víctor Manuel, whom his wife lovingly pointed out: “He’s even worse,” she said, amused. This comment helped the singer himself admit that in reality he was never a man of music. “I don’t dance, I’ve never danced before. Once when we met to get a little closer and stuffbut…” he said between laughs, sparking one of the show’s most celebrated moments.

The couple also revealed some of the nicknames they use in private. Ana Belén explained that she calls her husband “the Asturian bear” for his body stiffness while dancing. For his part, Víctor Manuel remembered this in the mid-90s when they were working on the project The taste is ours Together with Serrat and Miguel Ríos, he defined himself as “the quiet force”.
The new nicknames join others that accompanied the artist in her early years: “The Bride of Spain,” “The Muse of Transition,” and many more, cementing her place in popular culture. For his part, Víctor Manuel, born in Mieres in 1947, has always maintained a more discreet profile despite his behavior composed more than 600 songs and become an essential figure in Spanish music.

The chemistry between them on the show is no coincidence: their relationship began in 1971 when a mutual friend, Trini Alonso, met them in a hotel in La Coruña. She was on tour with us A hint of honey and he accompanied Julio Iglesias as part of his team. Just a year later, in 1972, They got married civilly in Gibraltara necessary alternative for those who did not want a religious ceremony in the middle of the dictatorship.
Since then, they have shared lives, stages and projects without losing an iota of complicity. During the interview, Broncano asked one of his classic questions: the economic situation of his guests. Both said they have separate accounts. Ana Belén went a step further and pointed out that her husband probably has more money than her: “He’s the author and collects royalties. I don’t compose.” Víctor Manuel ended the conversation with humor: “I have 600 songs,” leaving the obvious in the air.
