The legal team of Grupo AgroPlay, which manages Ana Castela, denounced recent content made by influencers on the singer’s sexuality. In the repudiation note, the team emphasizes that the Internet is not a “lawless land” and states that legal measures are being analyzed.
Although the artist is a recurring target of comments and assumptions on social networks, the situation took on greater repercussions after the broadcast of a video on TikTok in which influencers Vivi Wanderley, Isadora Raymundi, Duda Wilken and Gabi Medina make comments on the sexuality of public figures. Although the names mentioned in the video appear to be censored, netizens have started to associate one of the lines with Ana Castela. Among the hypotheses put forward, one of them associated the singer’s “bone structure” with the idea that she was a lesbian.
In the memo, AgroPlay’s legal team emphasizes that the problem lies not in the debate on sexual orientation, but in the way the subject is approached. “It is necessary to educate and set limits. A woman’s sexuality is not a crime. However, context is everything. When used by people without privacy, in a public way, in a mocking tone and, above all, associated with criticism of the physical appearance (“bone structure”) of a 22-year-old girl, the term ceases to be a question of identity and becomes a weapon of aggression and body shaming (attack on the body)”, states the text.
“We will not allow a woman’s sexual orientation (real or speculated) and body to become a ‘trend’ of humiliation to generate engagement. The Internet is not a lawless country. Appropriate legal measures are being analyzed, aimed not necessarily at redress, but at educational accountability.”
After the negative repercussions, Vivi Wanderley took to social media to apologize. She claimed she made an “inappropriate assumption” and said she had recanted the statement to those involved, without directly mentioning names.
Singer Zé Felipe commented on the matter by publishing a photo next to Ana Castela with the caption: “She’s not a dyke, kiss.” The controversy ended up affecting other names in the artistic world, such as Marina Sena, current girlfriend of Juliano Floss, ex of Vivi Wanderley. Ana Castela’s friends began sharing Marina Sena’s songs on social networks, in a gesture interpreted as an indirect attack against the influencer.
