The Regional Ethics Commission transferred its report to the federal PSOE favorable to the creation of a manager to lead this training in Torremolinos (Málaga)after the prosecutor opened proceedings for alleged sexual harassment in which the local secretary, Antonio Navarro, was denounced.
After the complaint filed by a socialist activist, the Ethics Commission of the PSOE of Andalusia, meeting this Tuesday, approved the sending to the federal leadership of a report favorable to the request for the creation of this management company, as requested by the PSOE of Malaga.
The Ethics Commission analyzed the request, issued its favorable report and proposed to transfer it to the federal leadership of the PSOE, which will be the body that ultimately resolves. According to the approved proposal, while this director will take the reins of the Municipal Group of the PSOE of Torremolinos, the provincial executive will be responsible for its procedural and management issues.
The manager will direct the PSOE of Torremolinos until its organic life is reestablished with the election of a new local executive in assembly.
Navarro has already been provisionally suspended from activism
The federal executive of the PSOE Navarro was already provisionally suspended from activism last Friday, after the prosecutor’s office opened preliminary proceedings for alleged sexual harassment of a socialist activist.
In the resolution it was agreed initiate disciplinary proceedings against Navarro, who will have ten days to submit an appeal to the Federal Commission for Ethics and Party Guarantees.
This measure was adopted by the socialist federal leadership after the request made by the Organizing Secretariat of the PSOE of Malaga to the complaint against Navarro is known through the media.
The socialist leadership indicated that, “from the analysis of the information received” and, “without prejudice to other facts which could appear”, it appears that “probably” Navarro could have committed a serious offense and in another very serious violation of two articles of the party’s federal statutes.
These articles respectively refer to “civic or ethical faults contrary to the principles of the party” and which “are considered serious by damage caused to the image or interests of the PSOE“and misconduct” when they contravene PSOE resolutions relating to violence against women or any vulnerable group.
Positions available at the party
The resolution recalled that The suspension of membership “renders ineffective the rights and duties mentioned in these Statutes”, but the activist “will continue to be required to pay his contributions on time and to respect the political decisions of the party’s governing bodies”.
“Without prejudice to the presumption of innocence and the outcome of the case which must be followed to determine the facts attributed to Antonio Navarro, taking into account their nature and their public repercussion, demand from the competent party bodies the adoption of measures appropriate provisions provided for in federal laws and internal regulations”, underlines the resolution.
The socialist provincial leadership also asked Navarro to “immediately” make his institutional positions available to the party, i.e. councilor and provincial deputy.
