The Minister of Justice, Ricardo Lewandowski, dismissed former Minister Anderson Torres and Federal MP Alexandre Ramajem (PL-RJ) from the Federal Police.
The dismissal comes within the framework of the two being convicted of involvement in the coup plot. The Ministry officially announced the penalties after receiving a statement from the Federal Supreme Court regarding the conviction, evaluation of the case, and approval of the ruling.
Both were professional delegates. They lost their public office and, as a result, the salary they deserved.
Since the National Front is affiliated with the ministry, it is up to Lewandowski to formalize the resignation.
Ramagem is on the run in the USA. His salary has been frozen in the chamber and he is the only convict at the heart of the coup plot who is outside the country.
Because he is a representative, Ramajim has been able to suspend part of the criminal case against him that involves facts since he actually took up his position in the chamber. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison for violent abolition of the rule of law, criminal organization and coup.
Torres was sentenced to 24 years in prison for violent abrogation of the rule of law, criminal organization, attempted coup, qualified damages, and deterioration of listed property. A former Minister of Justice, he was also Secretary of Public Security for the Federal District, a position he held during the events of January 8.
The former minister in Bolsonaro’s government is serving his sentence in a special cell measuring 54 square metres. It is located in the so-called Babodina – part of the Babuda prison complex reserved for detained police officers. The space in which he is serving his sentence is even larger than the special cell created for former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the National Front control body in Brasilia.
