It turns out that we withdrew from Eurovision, but they didn’t scare me, precisely, because I never understood to what extent Eurovision meant so much to us, when it is a comic book raffle, a competition where the hairspray is more important than the packaging of the … book of songs. The reasons why Spain is slamming the door are political, but we are leaving a show that arouses a lot of lust on television and in the fan clubs of the show, which is a final of the glittering champions. I’ve seen this celebration before, and there we triumphed a bit by sending a geek, and not so much a singer, because singers feel that Eurovision is a busy way to ruin your career. Strictly speaking, Eurovision is a call to geeks who haven’t yet realized that they are geeks. We know that, from time to time, our vitola singers have not wanted to participate as competitors, because they want to make a career, and the race is a record, and not three minutes of choreography on a sidereal stage, between gymnastics and queerness. In the past of the competition we see Raphael and Julio Iglesias, and more recently Chanel, who was so successful that she has not yet recovered from her apotheosis. If we look closely, we landed a decent position, in this show, when we sent a sacrifice patriot, shooting second, or when we went straight for a professional geek, like Chikilicuatre. The competition was a touching revival of that which is a fair of great sopranos, singer-songwriters of confetti, frenetic dancing and old glories from far away who seem to have come on occasion to prepare for a possible concert at the Gay Pride festivals in their region. Spain is withdrawing from Eurovision, in a gesture of political reproach, and the news takes on a sensational scale, as if we were leaving NATO, and not as a cheesy-inspired racket. This is how we are music lovers. Even if we are not there, Massiel will win. As per usual.
