Eletronuclear announced this Tuesday (9) a scheduled 50-day shutdown of the Angra 2 nuclear power plant, in Rio de Janeiro, from January 16, 2026, with a resumption planned for early March.
This will be the 21st shutdown of the unit, which will involve around 5,000 maintenance, inspection and testing activities, in addition to fuel changes, involving around 30% of the reactor core, the state-owned company said in a statement.
“Carrying out these actions is essential to ensure the reliability of the plant, which plays a strategic role in the country’s energy supply,” the company said.
The Angra 2 plant has a production capacity of 1,366 megawatts, according to Eletronuclear.
