Another school mother is accused of stealing money from the graduate party
A group of parents from the General Manuel Belgrano Armenian School in Cordoba reported this week that he had been robbed of 11 million pesos, the money they had raised for their children’s graduation party.. To make matters worse, the thief was one of the mothers in the group.
The case occurred last week but reached the provincial media in the last few hours when the parents decided to report the woman for alleged fraud. They had previously organized a celebration against the clock so that the boys don’t go without a party. It is the second case to come to light in less than a week, following the complaint of fraud against a mother from Misiones.
As far as can be reconstructed, the parents had started saving April 2024. One of the mothers was responsible for receiving the money in cash or bank transfer and making the payments for the celebration.
“Three adults in the class signed the contract for the room. One of them was responsible for collecting the money.” Three days before the party, the owner of the restaurant told us that on November 27th this person had informed him that a backpack containing the money had been stolen.at the corner of Gavilán and Rincón. But he didn’t file a complaint and there are cameras in that area,” said Karina, mother of one of the students in the affected class, in an interview with Channel 10.
The General Manuel Belgrano School of the Armenian Community of CórdobaThe party was scheduled for Saturday the 13th. But on Wednesday the 10th, the woman in charge of the fundraiser said during a parents’ meeting that she had been robbed.
“We thought it was a joke, but it wasn’t.. He said it was stolen, although he did not press charges and there is no footage to prove the crime. We have known her since the boys were in the three-grade class and have placed great trust in her. “We had agreed to make everything transparent,” said another of the women who spoke to Channel 10.
The parents decided to go into the room to see what the reservation situation was. They discovered that of the 166 quotas due, the woman had only paid 28. She hadn’t handed over any money since August. “The party was about to be canceled. We had two days to raise the money, we had to have it by Thursday,” said another mother.
That’s when they started a fundraiser to save the celebration. Parents from the educational community, the Armenian community and family members donated some money. As the case spread, transfers of people who wanted to cooperate arrived. They also started collections, raffles and organized baking of cakes and selling them.
“The people in the room were very nice and helped us with alternatives. Most of the parents organized to donate money. Luckily we were able to host the party,” another mother added.
The daughter of the woman accused of taking the proceeds attended the celebration. “Working together was very nice. That was it.” Roll up your sleeves and collect the money. There were very generous families, but everyone showed collective courage. We had to pay for almost three parties,” Carolina concluded.
But apart from the story, which had a happy ending, the parents appeared in court to denounce the woman after the fraud. “We want what happened to be repaired. I hope this person returns the money to these families.”
The precedent in Misiones
Last week the parents of the graduates of the 19th School of Commerce EldoradoIn Misiones they discovered a million-dollar fraud Romina Enriquezone of the mothers of the group who donated more than 17 million pesos for the graduation party
Enriquez responded to one of the many messages accumulating on his cell phone asking for explanations and claiming that he had problems with gambling. “The truth, There is no justification for what I did. I have problems with the casino and I used (the money) and then I thought I would get it back and kept burying more and more,” he reasoned.
Mónica Biczyk, mother of one of the affected students, rejected this version. “She is not a player, she is a fraudster. Months ago we were suspicious of her actions because we asked her for proof of payment as if we wanted to know what we owed and where we stood and since she didn’t show us anything and started apologizing, it seemed strange to us. I personally found it strange and was one of the first to complain and also filed the complaint,” she said.
Biczyk confirmed that Enriquez pointed out the party room and that only that was paid for. “Almost everything from the hall was missing, the waiters, the catering, the music, the photographer. Everything, I hadn’t paid anything. Given the despair of what was happening, all the parents got together that same day and we decided to meet with the owners of the hall to find a solution. And they offered to do everything so that the party could take place.” It would cost us $10 million,” he said.
The woman admitted that “it was impossible to have this amount of money” and revealed the solution: “We agreed to pay this amount in installments and we spoke to the mayor of Eldorado (Rodrigo Durán), who acted as guarantor for us.” Now each family has to raise 320,000 pesos to cover the costs of the celebrations.
So the party was the same, but with a stricter menu. “Since the food was unpaid, we made sure that all the parents brought pizza or empanadas. There was nothing else to eat at the party,” he said. And he added that the fraudster’s daughter attended the celebration because the girl “is not to blame for what her mother did.”
