Hundreds of residents of the city of Yafo, located on Tel Aviv, protested this Saturday against an attack by a group of Jews who pepper-sprayed an Arab-Israeli woman in the city.
According to the Israeli press, the woman was attacked while driving a car in the Ayami district. The woman would also have been insulted.
“Tell the dogs of the Shin Bet that we are not afraid of the conflict,” the demonstrators shouted as they marched towards the site of the attack, according to the Arab48 news portal.
The leader of the Arab-Israeli party Balad Sami Abu Shehadé has accused the Israeli government of complicity in the attack. “It is not an isolated case, but a new episode of systematic politics against the people of Yafo and our Palestinian nation as a whole,” he denounced. “Official silence is complicity in this crime,” he said.
Police have confirmed that a woman was attacked with pepper spray during an argument and highlighted that she was taken to hospital for medical attention. There have currently been no arrests.
