This news, this announcement was announced yesterday after the Governing Council of Aragon. The morning. A few hours after adopting this decision, the deadly Panticosa avalanche became known.
Yesterday, the Government Council of Aragon authorized the … installation of three new snow stations in the Aragonese Pyrenees with the aim of improving prevention and response to avalanches and other risky situations in high mountains.
The stations will be located in the municipalities of Aragüés del Puerto (Jacetania), Panticosa (Upper Gallego) and Sahún (Ribagorza), particularly sensitive points during the winter season due to the practice of mountain sports and the difficulty of access in the event of an emergency.
These devices will provide real-time information on snow and weather conditions, a key factor in anticipating risks and acting more quickly and effectively.
The action responds to the need to strengthen the work of the 112 Aragon emergency service, which operates without interruption throughout the year and requires precise data to coordinate interventions in a vast, mountainous and dispersed territory like Aragon.
The contract for the supply and installation of the stations will last six months and will have an estimated budget of 137,940 euros.
Without budgets approved in 2026, the Government of Aragon indicated that it has exceptionally authorized the exceeding of the spending limits planned for next year, due to the high budgetary commitment existing for other strategic projects, such as the Integral Emergency Management Center of Aragon.
With this measure, the Regional Executive considers that strengthens security in the Pyrenees and improves the capacity for anticipation and emergency interventions in a particularly vulnerable environment in winter.
