Federal Council of Medicine denies rumors circulating on the Internet, says physical documents remain legally valid in Brazil

In recent days, for example, information has begun to circulate that paper medical certificates will no longer be accepted from March 2026which would force workers and businesses to exclusively adopt digital documents. The statement, however, this is not trueand has already been officially denied.
It is false to say that paper medical certificates will no longer be valid in 2026
The Federal Council of Medicine (CFM) specified on its official website that No rule invalidates physical medical certificates from 2026. According to them, Brazilian legislation does not impose exclusivity on the digital format and documents issued on paper continue to be valid throughout the national territory.
The rumor that paper certificates would not be valid next year appeared on social media. The council, on the other hand, denied this information and stressed that there is no law that eliminates the use of paper. Even with advances in digital tools for issuing and verifying medical documents, the the physical certificate remains recognized and can continue to be presented normally, provided that it meets the legal requirements already known.
