The largest municipality in which this situation occurs is Benidorm (Alicante), where their 77,211 neighbors recorded are exceeded by the 96,950 tourist places. He follows San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Las Palmas), with a population of 54,925 inhabitants compared to an accommodation capacity of more than 90,000 people. In third place appears Calvia (Balearic Islands), of which 54,082 residents live together in high season with nearly 70,000 visitors.
At the opposite extreme, in Guadalajara we find Castilenew -which with only eight inhabitants has 18 places- or Monasterywhere its 13 neighbors can accommodate up to 18 tourists. The Riojan Angon presents a situation of parity: eight neighbors and eight places.
The provinces with the most saturated areas
In two bastions of Spanish tourism —Girona and the Balearic Islands— As the graph shows, the greatest number of localities (both municipalities and census tracts) are concentrated where tourists outnumber residents: 22 and 20 respectively.
In the Catalan province, the most extreme relationship is recorded in friendsinside Baix Empordà (2,583 inhabitants against 19,360 places). Saturated cities
In three provincial capitals (Marbella, Seville and Granada), there are neighborhoods with more reception capacity for travelers than for resident residents.
It must be taken into account that at this level of detail, the INE only provides data on places in tourist accommodation, so those in hotels, hostels, pensions, etc. should be added for a complete estimate.
Marbella and Sevillewith three census sections each, are the following cities with the most tourist-saturated areas. In Marbella, on average, 59% of beds correspond to visitors; In the center of the Seville capital, the ratio rises to 53.41%.
The section of the census where the difference is most extreme is 01008 from La Oliva (Valencia)where almost 73% of the capacity of tourist residences is intended for visitors. They follow the 01003 from Dénia (68.34%) and the 01007 from San Javier (Murcia).
