Atlético-MG are looking for a new midfielder and Talleres’ Matías Galarza is one of the club’s preferred options.
However, the Argentine team has ruled out any negotiations with Galo, citing the Brazilian club’s “deadbeat reputation” as an obstacle. The information was confirmed by journalists Alecsander Heinrick, Pedro Faria and Leandro Colombo, of the newspaper Time.
According to Talleres board sources, the decision was clear: “The minor does not pay. We’re not going to do anything to them. They owe everyone“, said a team member, emphasizing that only proposals from clubs in the United States and Portugal have been formally received so far.
Despite the refusal, Atlético-MG continues discussions with the Galarza team and the player has expressed interest in a transfer to Galo, which has not yet translated into an official proposal for Talleres. The Brazilian club, in turn, preferred not to comment on the matter, saying that “they are not talking about stock speculation.”
The search for a first midfielder has been one of Atlético’s priorities since the 2025 transfer window, when the team tried other reinforcements for the position, including the Colombian Juan Camilo Portilla, also from Talleres, who ended up being negotiated with Athletico-PR.
