Mais midfielder Querido competes with Inter Miami’s Messi and Racing’s Martínez

Flamengo star and protagonist of the Libertadores do Brasileirão 2025 titles, Arrascaeta is one of the finalists for the traditional “King of America” prize, awarded by the Uruguayan newspaper “El País”. The red and black midfielder is competing with Messi, from Inter Miami (USA) and Martínez, from Racing (ARG). The current owner of the trophy is Luiz Henrique, champion of the same titles with Botafogo in 2024. Pantera is currently at Zenit, in Russia.
The winner will be announced on December 31, after a vote.
Arrascaeta came second in 2022 and third in 2019. This year, the midfielder has recorded 64 official matches for Mengo, with 25 goals and 20 assists. As well as the double, the Uruguayan star also helped the Rio side win the Supercopa do Brasil and the Campeonato Carioca. The team also reached the Interclub Cup final, but lost on penalties to Paris Saint-Germain.
Messi, in turn, played 49 matches with Inter Miami, with 43 goals and 26 assists. The number 10 led Miami to the franchise’s first Major League Soccer (MLS) title. The Argentine striker was chosen as the star of the competition.
Martínez led Racing to win the Recopa Sul-Americana, against Botafogo. Among the Libertadores, the team reached the semi-finals, in the series against Flamengo. In the Argentino Clausura tournament they reached the final, beaten by Estudiantes. The striker has scored 22 goals and provided three assists in 45 matches.
