Douglas Alves da Silva, 26, identified by the civil police as the driver of the vehicle that hit and dragged Tainara Souza Santos, 31, left the prison of a police station in the capital and was taken to the Provisional Detention Center 2 in Guarulhos, in the São Paulo metropolitan area.
The change occurred after the court converted his arrest from temporary to preventive (without delay). He was admitted to prison on Monday (8), according to the Prison Administration Secretariat.
For the civil police, Douglas was the driver of the black Volkswagen Golf that crashed and dragged Tainara along the Tietê seafront, in Parque Novo Mundo, north of São Paulo, on Saturday morning (29).
According to delegate Augusto Cesar Pedroso Bicego, leader of the 90th DP (Parque Novo Mundo), Douglas was accused of attempted femicide against Tainara and attempted murder of the man who accompanied him at the time.
According to the request for preventive detention presented to the Court by delegate Luiz Gonçalves Dias Filho, also of the 90th DP, after being involved in a fight with the man, motivated by jealousy of Tainara, with whom he had a relationship in the past, Douglas intentionally tried to kill the couple.
However, he denies it and claims that he did not know Tainara or her companion.
During his interrogation at the police station, Douglas said the man who accompanied Tainara got into a fight with another man who accompanied him. He reportedly tried to clear up the confusion when he was attacked. He claims to have been threatened with death by the man who attacked him.
According to the version presented to the police, Douglas got into his Golf with his friend. As he was leaving, he ended up crashing the car into Tainara. He also said he did not notice warnings from other drivers that the victim was being dragged by his vehicle. According to him, he left the scene for fear of being attacked.
Douglas was arrested on Sunday evening (30). During his arrest, he allegedly resisted and was shot in the arm. At a custody hearing, he told a judge and a prosecutor that he was assaulted by civilian police while detained in a hotel in Vila Prudente, east of São Paulo.
The suspect’s lawyer, Marcos Tavares Leal, claims he was sleeping when police entered the hotel room and attacked him. At the custody hearing, Leal said Douglas still had the open gunshot wound, in addition to several bruises. He therefore asked the judge to receive medical treatment and also to undergo a medical examination at the IML (Institute of Legal Medicine), to which the judge quickly responded.
The aggressiveness of the action, which led to the amputation of Tainara’s legs, attracted the attention of civilian and military police who monitored the incident. The victim received primary care at the Vereador José Storopolli Municipal Hospital, known as Vermelhinho, located a few meters from where she was dragged. She is currently hospitalized at Hospital das Clínicas, in the West Zone. The resort’s spokesperson said he was not authorized to provide details about his condition.
Douglas’ action perplexed Bicego, a delegate with nearly 30 years of experience. “A barbaric act. It goes beyond the average standards of society. There is no justification for what he did,” he said. Leaf.
