Art Basel Miami Beach: Art galleries across the country sell R$10 million – 03/12/2025 – Plastic

The atmosphere already felt like a party in the early hours of the morning, even if champagne was the loudest at breakfast for the wealthy arriving at Art Basel Miami Beach at the crack of dawn. After record-breaking auctions in New York last month, Brazilian galleries have bet big on their selections for this year’s American event, the most important for the Latin American market in the world.

Among the most impressive results were those of São Paulo native Nara Rösler, who sold works by Tomi Ohtaki, for US$240,000, or R$1.3 million, to Sheila Hicks, for US$220,000, or R$1.2 million, among other sales by names such as Artur Lesscher, for US$67,000, or R$356,000, and Asuka Anastasia Ogawa, Karen Lambrecht, and Marco. Castillo.

In Luciana Brito, a historical piece by Valdemar Cordero was sold for a price in the range of 25,000 US dollars, or 133,000 Brazilian reals, a picture of Marina Abramovic was sold for 150,000 US dollars, or 797,000 Brazilian reals, and a sculpture by Ivan Navarro, for 110,000 US dollars, or 584,000 Brazilian reals.

Pieces by Heitor dos Prazeres, for US$108,000, or R$573,000, Lygia Pape, for US$70,000, or R$372,000, Maxwell Alexander, for R$165,000, and Maya Wischof, for US$34,000, or R$181,000, were sold at Almeida and Del.

Marilia Razuk sold a work by Joanna Calle for US$40,000, or R$212,000, to Zielinski, and seven works by Cisco Merrell, for a total of R$105,000, or R$558,000, and Raquel Arnault had sales to Carla Chaim, Jesús Rafael Soto, Marina Weifurt, and Wolfram Ulrich. Vermelho sold works by Chiara Banfi, for US$40,000, or R$212,000, to Ximena Garrido Leca, for R$35,000, or R$186,000, and works by Edgard de Souza for between R$15,000 and R$80,000, or R$80,000 to R$425,000.
