To the Three Kings
It is said that “they did not adorn whom they were supposed to adorn,” and that is why the AFA thing happened. Now, when we turn on the fan or, better yet, turn on the lights to better show off our pigsty, here’s what I think we should do Mea culpa And this Christmas we ask the Magi for a little frankincense to free us from the smoke in which tricks are spun, and for a little myrrh to dispel bribery schemes. Finally, may your example inspire those who took the gold and soften their hearts when they see so many children lying in the manger of poverty.

marches against it
It is always easier to resist than to propose and implement something better. We have had painful and conclusive evidence in the economic and labor fields for decades. The indicators have only gotten worse since the 1960s. However, the same actors set out on the marches like they stepped out of a UFO yesterday… And to make matters worse, none of them are having a bad time in their personal lives. And yet they are leaders and they vote for them…

irony
Marcos Galperin said of the attack in Australia, where Islamic terrorists murdered 19 people on a Jewish holiday: “Welcome to multicultural and diverse Australia.” His irony may be politically incorrect, but it has the value of pointing out the consequences that adopting the ideology can have. woke up. Given the repeated harshness of reality, one can, without being Nostradamus, predict a difficult future for these countries.

Gold as a referee
If the fiscal credibility of the two powers that support the system – the United States, whose chronic deficits are based on expectations rather than income; and China, with opaque balance sheets and an implicit level of debt that is difficult to quantify, enters a zone of doubt, capital stops debating: it returns to arithmetic. And the arithmetic suggests an asset without sovereignty. Gold is rising because it doesn’t need future promises to maintain its value. The additional distortion comes from the war that began in 2022 and brought high-intensity geopolitical risk to an already exhausted order. He didn’t redraw the map: he made it fragile. It led to pressure on energy prices, changed routes and, above all, changed expectations. Today, no investor ignores a stable strategic horizon. The lack of real de-escalation mechanisms increases this uncertainty. In this environment, the function of gold becomes transparent. If one power cannot impose fiscal discipline and the other cannot demonstrate growth without hidden debt, the system lacks a credible anchor. The metal then reappears as an arbiter: an asset that depends neither on predicted solvency nor on the narrative of a sovereign.
When balance sheets erode and geopolitics bring limitless risks, refuge is no longer an option. It becomes a survival mechanism.

Police exonerated
A former CABA police officer has been exonerated for making erotic poses while wearing her uniform, which violated police decency and ethics. An excessive measure for a young woman who has only made one mistake. If that is the criterion, then we demand the same from all representatives and senators who have sworn in as criminals and with bombastic formulas, contrary to the meaning of “homeland”. His work not only violates decency and ethics, but, unlike the former police officer, borders on criminality in the character who is classified as an excuse for a crime.

Borges and Merlo
The version spread on social networks that the writer Jorge Luis Borges “has roots in Merlo” and that “his family history is directly linked to Francisco de Merlo – the founder of the city – and to Colonel Isidoro Suárez, the hero of Argentine independence.” It’s worth clarifying. Borges always emphasized his descent from soldiers who fought in both the Civil Wars (his grandfather, Colonel Francisco Borges, died draped in the Christian flag in 1874) and the South American War of Independence (his great-grandfather Isidoro Suárez had a decisive performance at the Battle of Junín). This is known. The novelty arises from an alleged relationship with Merlo’s party, suggesting that the writer maintained social and cultural ties in that community. Nothing could be further from reality. Being rooted in a place implies a proven belonging, and Borges never had anything to do with Merlo’s life. The situation is different with his relationship with the town of Adrogué (Almirante Brown district), where the house where he spent the summer with his family is now a heritage site. Borges even wrote a poem with the exact title Adrogué. The alleged direct connection to Francisco de Merlo is absolutely false. The genealogy shows that María Leonor Merlo y Rubio (granddaughter of the founder) married Nicolás Suárez. From this marriage came Isidoro Ramón Suárez Merlo, father of Leonor Suárez Martínez Haedo y Soler, who married Isidoro Acevedo Laprida. From this union came Leonor Rita Acevedo Suárez, Borges’ mother. As the family tree shows, the claim that Borges is “directly associated with Francisco de Merlo” is not only false and misleading, but also nonsense. It is true and documented that he is distantly descended from Francisco de Merlo through his mother: he was a Chozno (Tratata grandson), a distant relative who had no influence on his life or work. Any other statement only creates media noise without any evidence and distorts the historical truth.
