Actor Vitor Eduardo Dumont Ferreira, 25, died on Saturday evening (06/12) after a sudden illness during the premiere of a show at the Teatro Municipal Glória Giglio, in Osasco, São Paulo metropolitan region. Vitor played the Genie in Aladdin, one of the most important roles of his career. At the premiere, he suddenly fell ill while still on stage, while being applauded by the audience.
Born in São Paulo, Vitor began his artistic career at the age of 10. Actor, dancer and singer, he has participated in productions such as Quebra-Nozes and Footloose, in addition to being part of the Cia Brasileira de Teatro Musical (CiaBTM). He was also a student at CEFTEM, Cisne Negro and Meninos do Morumbi, where he took his first steps in dance.
A graduate in Public Relations, Vitor has always worked in this field within CiaBTM, where he held communications, project management and executive production functions.
On social networks, the 1st Black Musical Theater Company of Brazil deplored the death of the artist, describing him as an “extraordinary professional, artist by essence, light by vocation and sensitive by nature”. The company noted that Vitor was known not only for his talent, but also for his gentleness, empathy and generosity.
“Vitor had an energy that exceeded any audience. Vitor didn’t just make art, he was art,” the company said.
Choreographer Francisco Ribeiro, who is also a teacher and director of the municipal theater, said Vitor started feeling ill about 20 minutes before the end of the show. According to him, when the actor fainted, the crew believed it was an improvised scene.
However, a few seconds later, a whistling sound from Vitor’s microphone made the group realize that this was not a performance. “We tried everything. We had help from the firefighters and the Samu for almost an hour, but he left.”
“Vitor left to do what he loved, where he always had his place: the stage,” declared the choreographer.

1 of 4In a statement, the Clayds Zwing studio deplored the death of the actor and indicated that due to what happened, the screenings of the musical had been canceled. The school also announced it would provide support to the family. The Osasco City Hall regretted what happened and expressed solidarity with the actor’s family and friends.
The wake will take place this Monday (8/12) at 7 a.m., at the Parque das Cerejeiras Memorial Cemetery, Jardim Ângela, São Paulo. The burial is scheduled for 11 a.m.
