Bossa Nova icon, the only one of the first generation among us, Roberto Menescal, 88, enters the new year with six shows already scheduled in Rio de Janeiro. The first in the running takes place with Theo Bial and the group of musicians “Massatrio” at Blue Note Rio, on January 3, in two sessions.
Roberto Menescal and Theo Bial present the show “A minha bossa” recently presented in Juazeiro, but with two new features. They show first-hand the second song composed by the duo; “The second of many to come,” says Menescal, delighted by the talent and musicality of his new student.
The song doesn’t have a name yet, but the master says it will have one by the day of the show. The other novelty of the show is Theo Bial’s interpretation of “A volta” (Menescal and Bôscoli), Menescal’s favorite song among the more than 500 songs he composed.
