Senator Flávio Bolsonaro’s (PL-RJ) dinner with Centrão leaders on Monday (12/8) in Brasilia was not at all encouraging for the parliamentarian’s plans to run for president in 2026.
Flávio summoned the presidents of União Brasil, Antônio Rueda, and PP, Ciro Nogueira, to dinner at his home with the aim of soliciting party support for his pre-candidacy at the Planalto Palace.

During the conversation, according to information in the column, Centrão leaders asked if Flávio’s candidacy was real or if it was just to make a point and try to keep Bolsonarism alive.
Jair Bolsonaro’s eldest son responded that his candidacy was irreversible and said his intention was to “govern together” with the parties in the group that support his candidacy.
The bosses of the PP and União Brasil, however, took notice and told Flávio that no candidate with the name Bolsonaro would perform well in the October 2026 elections.

Flávio told Centrão that the candidacy “is real” and asked for support
The leaders reportedly told the senator that the best name on the right would be São Paulo Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), according to polls.
The dinner ended when the presidents of the PP and União Brasil told Flávio that they would consult other leaders of their parties to assess the chances of supporting the parliamentarian’s candidacy.
In addition to Ciro and Rueda, the dinner brought together the leaders of PL, Flávio’s party. Among them, the national president of the party, Valdemar Costa Neto, and senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN).
