At least 19 people died and another 16 were injured to varying degrees after two residential buildings collapsed in the city of Fez in central Morocco this Wednesday (December 10, 2025).
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening and early Wednesday in the Mostaqbal district of Fez when two four-story buildings collapsed, local authorities said on Wednesday.
This is a “preliminary balance,” according to the same sources, who stated that a total of eight families lived in the two buildings.
“Upon receiving the report of the incident, local authorities and security agencies as well as disaster management personnel immediately went to the scene to begin search and rescue operations,” the sources said.
At the scene of the accident, the authorities took measures to secure the collapsed buildings and evacuate the residents of the neighboring houses.
The injured were taken to Fes University Hospital Center to receive necessary medical care, the sources said, adding that search operations are continuing to determine, among other things, whether there may be other victims under the rubble.
