At least one person died and another was injured in an attack by Ukrainian forces on areas under Russian control as part of the invasion this Monday in the city of Novaya Kakhovka in the Ukrainian province of Kherson.
The pro-Russian governor of the province, Volodimir Saldo, noted in a message distributed via his Telegram account that a residential building was severely damaged by the attacks of the Ukrainian army’s drones.
“The windows were broken and the roof was destroyed. A car was also hit. A civilian died,” he explained, confirming that a fruit shop was also damaged.
“A 65-year-old woman was taken to hospital after suffering multiple injuries to her legs from shrapnel,” the text said, warning that a daycare center was also damaged.
Saldo emphasized that “hostile” attacks were registered in the areas of Aleshki, Velikaya Lepetija, Kazachi Lagerya, Kajovka, Korsunka, Novaya Mayachka and Obrivka, among others.
Kherson, along with Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia – all partially occupied as part of the invasion – was annexed by Russia in October 2022, a move not recognized by the international community that was added to Moscow’s annexation of the Crimean Peninsula in 2014.
