MADRID, December 6 (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least two people died and seven others were injured by a bomb explosion this Saturday in the Mexican state of Michoacán, in the center-west of the country, as announced by the country’s authorities.

Mexico’s Security Cabinet said the explosion occurred in front of the facilities of the so-called “Community Police” in the city of Coahuayana, a civil defense organization against the actions of drug trafficking cartels.

The nature of the explosion was confirmed by the Michoacán Ministry of Public Security, which announced the opening of an investigation into what happened.

While waiting for an official version, sources from the newspaper ‘Proceso’ report reprisals by members of the Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) cartel, after several of their local leaders were captured in recent days in the region.
