The minister Alexander of Moraesof the Federal Court (STF), sent this Friday (12) to the Ministry of Justice information on the prison where the federal deputy was Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) could stay if he was extradited from Italy. The data was collected by the Criminal Execution Court of the Federal District, which indicated that the parliamentarian would serve her sentence at the DF Women’s Penitentiary (PFDF), known as Colmeia.
The Ministry of Justice had requested clarification on the penitentiary unit to which Zambelli would be intended, such as the conditions of infrastructure, the organization of inmates’ quarters and the management of cases of violence. The information will be transmitted to the Italian court, which has requested details of the parliamentarian’s extradition procedure.
According to the Criminal Execution Court, the Hive has good conditions, with different wings for closed, semi-open and temporary detainees. Regarding questions about the frequency of acts of violence and intimidation, the Court responded that supervisory bodies and human rights organizations monitor these acts and that any allegations of violations are formally investigated by the Prison Administration Secretariat.
It also indicated that it has criminal police officers capable of offering tactical support and rapid response in any crisis situation requiring detainees. Regarding infrastructure, he reported that there are different wings that guarantee the separation of prisoners according to criteria of vulnerability, risk and assistance needs, such as a wing for trans women and mothers who live with their babies.
Zambelli is imprisoned in Italy awaiting the outcome of extradition proceedings. She was sentenced by the Supreme Court to ten years in prison for intrusion into the systems of the National Council of Justice (CNJ).
Also this Friday, the STF approved Moraes’ decision to declare the immediate loss of the deputy’s mandate. Unanimously, the first panel of the Court annulled the House voting session which maintained Zambelli’s mandate. In 48 hours, replacement Adilson Barroso (PL-S) should take over.
Zambelli was convicted in May of invading the systems of the National Council of Justice (CNJ). According to the decision, she acted by including a false arrest warrant against Moraes and a release permit in favor of a leader of the Comando Vermelho. For this, falsified credentials of agency employees were used.
Despite the final and unappealable conviction and the fact that Zambelli did not carry out his duties due to his imprisonment, the House decided on Wednesday to uphold the mandate. The score was 227 to 179 for revocation. The result, however, did not reach the figure of 257 points necessary to determine the loss of the mandate.
