The big day has arrived. This Sunday (12/21), athletes of different ages compete in the Managing metropoliseswhich takes place in Eixão do Lazer, at 102/103 Norte. The competition offers races over distances of 5 km, 10 km and 15 km. The excitement of the competitors took over from early in the morning.
Marcelo Roberto do Santos, 45, is one of them. He is participating in the 10km race and said he knows the course well, as he usually runs at Eixão do Lazer on Sundays.
“The energy is good, the weather is good. Everything works together. My goal is to finish the race in 42 minutes and close the year in style,” he stressed.
Marcelo also praised the organization of the Managing metropolises.
“Everything went very well. I took the kit off very quickly, I thought everything was well organized. The kit is good, the jersey is good,” he stressed about the event.
Luciana Martins and Antônio Augusto do the 15 km race.
“We are used to running on the Esplanada dos Ministérios, in the parks. This will be our first race here in Eixão,” emphasized Luciana.
“The course is good, there are some climbs. I really liked the logistics of the event, it was very easy to collect the kit on Saturday,” said Antônio.
Vasco fan, Felipe Ferreira Silva will participate in the 10 km race. He commented that it would be his first race at the Metropolis and said the race would help reduce anxiety ahead of his team’s Copa do Brasil final.
“I spent the whole week anxious, now running in the morning will calm me down,” he joked. Felipe emphasized that he is used to racing at Eixão do Lazer.

The competition
The race is organized by the Brazilian National Institute for Social Development (Inbras), under the technical supervision of the Federal Athletics Federation (FATDF), and takes place in accordance with the rules of the Brazilian Athletics Confederation (CBAt).
The event is supported by the Secretariat of Tourism, IMP Concursos, Viva Brasília, Big Box, Geap Saúde, Fiat, Yopp, Brilhe Pratas, Noroeste Biomagistral, CME Nutrition, VERD, Dopaminah and Runlastic. The route has been checked and certified by an accredited technician.
Metrópoles Run is led by sports trainer Paulo Sérgio Rosa Costa and has legal authorizations, liability insurance, medical staff, hydration stations and a support structure. The Eixão do Lazer has an area dedicated to athletes, and the first three classified in each distance, in the men’s and women’s categories, receive a trophy and cash prizes.
