Atlético is close to finalizing the definitive purchase of the economic rights of defender Vitor Hugo, who belongs to Bahia. The defender’s new contract – on loan since the start of the season – with Galo will last two years.
Eager to keep the defender for longer, Atlético began negotiating the player’s stay in Belo Horizonte. Bahia, in turn, did not want a new loan and would only accept a definitive sale, according to “ESPN”. However, the values have not been revealed.
Vitor Hugo arrived at Galo at the beginning of 2025 at the request of Cuca, then coach of the club. However, he only gained starting status after Jorge Sampaoli took over the team. Thus, he finished the season with 34 matches played (29 starts) and four goals.
Hired by Bahia in 2023, Vitor Hugo failed to impress in Salvador and ended up being loaned to Panathinaikos, from Greece, in 2024. In total, he entered the field on 31 occasions for the Bahian Tricolore.
