
Universal Pictures dropped the bomb by revealing the new trailer for The Odysseythe long-awaited adaptation of Christopher Nolan from Homer’s legendary epic poem. The film follows the Greek hero Ulysses, played by Matt Damonduring his long and dangerous return to Ithaca after a ten-year absence during which he was plunged into the Trojan War.
“After many years, no one could come between my men and their house”a voice begins to say in the opening seconds of the preview, preparing us for an epic adventure through the unknown. An adventure that will involve the London filmmaker’s first foray into fantasy territoryfaced with the challenge of applying traditional techniques for the recreation of mythological beings.
The trailer shows the protagonist and his army shipwrecked and facing various obstacles on land, at sea and even in a cave, where there is an encounter with a gigantic creature lurking in the darkness. Also featured are brief scenes of Tom Holland as Telemachus, son of Odysseus, and Anne Hathaway as Penelope, his wife. The director, screenwriter and producer of the film is working again with his inseparable wife, the producer Emma Thomasas well as with his regular collaborator, the director of photography Hoyte van Hoytemaand the composer Ludwig Göransson, who has been responsible for the soundtrack of his films since Principle. According to Universal, the film was shot in various locations around the world using cutting-edge Imax theater technology.
