“The Meconiansthe most irreverent musical duo in Spain, will celebrate their only Christmas concert in Arganda. This is how the Arganda del Rey City Hall, governed by the PP and Vox in coalition, announced a month ago the actions of the controversial … group, with ideologically charged lyrics against the left, Sánchez and everything that smacks of “woke”. The Meconios performed this Friday evening at the packed Montserrat Caballé auditorium. Among the audience was one of the surprises of the evening, the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Diaz Ayuso.
Ayuso posted several photos on social media with the mayor and members of Los Meconios, with this message: “With Los Meconios and the residents of #argandadelrey and other neighborhoods in Madrid and Spain celebrating Christmas. Thank you so much!”
The mayor, Alberto Escribano, of the Popular Party, boasted of the success: “And suddenly we end the year in Arganda with Los Meconios and also a surprise visit from Isabel Díaz Ayuso. We will never be intimidated by cancel culture because they are not superior and never will be. And with the Montserrat Caballé Auditorium full!
The group themselves summed up the night in Arganda thus: “Another unforgettable night. Yesterday in Arganda was unforgettable. The room full of people. People of all ages full of enthusiasm, good vibes and Christmas spirit. There was time for everything: to demand, to protest, to think, to sing, to be moved but above all to laugh. Something much needed in these times.
The group particularly thanked Ayuso: “In particular, on this occasion, you will allow us to thank the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, for honoring us with her presence. “He even dared to come and sing with us!”
“It’s not about acronyms, it’s about people. And we love brave people. She is one of those who were, those who are and those who will be. We couldn’t be more grateful. And whoever itches, let him scratch it… Thank you, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, because, as a good Mandalorian would say (and sorry for the monster): This is the way. The message is clear (for anyone who wants to understand it): culture is no one’s property. It belongs to everyone. Next stop: Sala Oh My Club in Madrid on February 28. Freedom of expression is non-negotiable. It’s practiced,” the duo explains.
And so we end the year in Arganda with @losmeconios and also a surprise visit from @IdiazAyuso.

The presence of Los Meconios in Arganda del Rey, and even more so the surprise visit of Ayuso, triggered the anger of the left. The former mayor and socialist spokesperson of this municipality, Guillermo Hita, criticized it thus: “Imagine that during my eight years as mayor, I had the ‘brilliant’ idea of hiring a music group famous for insulting right-wing voters for Christmas programming – yes, for families, for children. Imagine that he brought to the Auditorium a group whose lyrics mocked the beliefs of half of Arganda, who asked to “return to 31” or who ridiculed those who vote for the PP.
“They would have called me anything. They would have said that I had gone crazy, that a mayor cannot use everyone’s money to insult half of them, that I am bigoted and irresponsible. And you know what? That they would have been absolutely right in the world. Because a mayor belongs to everyone, not just to those who have their ballot in their pocket,” says the socialist spokesperson.
“The current mayor has decided that the best way to celebrate Christmas with family is to invite ‘Los Meconios’, this group who, between Christmas carols, sneak in ‘let’s go back to 36’, mock feminism and despise anyone who doesn’t think like them. An insult to the face of half the citizens paid for, yes, with the money of all citizens. And as if the absurdity was not enough, there we had President Ayuso in the front row, who came expressly to Arganda to applaud the pardon and validate that a public institution is being used for the most rancid revenge,” denounces Hita.
Faced with criticism from the left, the mayor of Arganda encouraged the PSOE to “do more than review song lyrics” to review “its laws which have put thousands of rapists on the streets and left thousands of women defenseless thanks to their fake anti-abuse bracelets”. “Let it be clear to you that in Arganda, no one will be vetoed or overruled. “We need ten Los Meconios concerts to deal with the shameful situation we are currently experiencing.”
