The president of Aragon and leader of the PP in this community, Jorge Azcón, is preparing for an imminent electoral advance in the region. After an initial series of contacts with the groups represented in the Cortes, in order to explore the viability … which has its budgetary project, sources close to Azcón tell ABC that the most feasible scenario today is to bring forward the appointment with the polls by a year and a half. This Tuesday, the leader met the leader of Vox, Alejandro Nolasco, closest to his positions, and this Wednesday he plans to meet him with the general secretary of the PSOE, Pilar Alegría.
In the case of the meeting with Nolasco, they explain at Pignatelli, seat of the presidency of Aragon, the meeting served to verify that “The positions are very far apart”. Since the meeting with Alegría scheduled in a few hours, despite the proposal of the socialist minister to approve the spending ceiling, the Aragonese PP considers the offer of the PSOE of Aragon as “a trap”.
Elections on February 8
So, concretely and with the calendar in hand, in the Azcón region they are already managing two important dates for the coming weeks. The first, they explain, on Monday December 15. This is the day, according to these same sources, that the president of the Government of Aragon would sign the decree dissolving the Cortes and the subsequent election call. The second important date is that of the elections which, according to the law, would take place next Sunday, February 8.
Azcón thus aligns himself with María Guardiola, of Extremadura, who dissolved Parliament and called elections for December 21, after failing to obtain the necessary support to approve the public accounts. Two positions which contrast with what happened in the Balearic Islands, where its president, the also “popular” Marga Prohens, chose to extend the accounts with the approval of Génova 13.
Although the leadership of the PP advocated going to the polls if the budgets could not be approved, among other things to put the government of Pedro Sánchez in front of the mirror, the team of Alberto Núñez Feijóo gave autonomy to all its regional presidents and supports the decisions that each of them has taken.
