
Carmen Oliveira da Silva, known as Mãe Carmen do Gantois, died at the age of 96, after about two weeks at the Português Hospital in Salvador (BA), where she was being treated for a serious flu. His death was confirmed in the early hours of this Friday (26/12).

Born in Salvador on December 29, 1928, she was initiated into Candomblé from her childhood, at the age of 7, for the cult of Oxalá, the Orixá of her head.
