Baixada Santista has the largest number of beaches not suitable for swimming in SP

The latest report of its kind, issued by CETESB (the environmental company of São Paulo State), monitored the water quality at 175 points on the São Paulo coast and provides a list of beaches unsuitable for swimming.

Among the not-recommended places are Itagua and Perico-Merim, both in the municipality of Ubatuba, as well as Prainha, Pontal da Cruz, Puichucanga in São Sebastião, and the beaches of Seno and Itacanduba in Ilhabela.

But it is in Baixada Santista that the cities with the largest number of beaches not suitable for swimming are located. The region consists of Beruipe, Mongagua, Itanheim, Praia Grande, São Vicente, Cubatão, Santos, Guaruja and Bertioga.
