
A few days before the end of the 2025 school year, the rector of the National University of the Northeast (UNNE), Omar Larrozaconducted a comprehensive assessment of its management and marked the milestones in infrastructure and technological forecasts for the immediate future.

Against a backdrop of severe fiscal uncertainty at the state level, Larroza emphasized institutional solvency to keep campuses in both provinces active.
One of the highlights of the report was the infrastructure plan. According to the rector, the UNNE has managed to channel larger financial aid 40 million pesos for each facultyintended for work and renovations.
This progress was possible thanks to a combination of own resources and an articulated collaboration with the governments of Corrientes and Chaco to compensate for the lack of direct national funding for works.
Science, research and social legitimacy
Larroza emphasized that despite the crisis, the university had not withdrawn from its content functions. “The university is a consolidated system that continues to be legitimized by society,” explained the rector, linking this social validation to the defense of the public university system throughout the year.
In this sense, he confirmed the obligation to maintain the own programs for researchers and direct support to students. For the director, planning ability was key to ensuring that the faculties of the three campuses could modernize their administrative and social areas without halting scholarly production.

Digital transformation and AI: a look to 2026
When Larroza predicted the scenario for 2026, he assumed that it would not only be because of the Renewal of authorities and elections in the facultiesbut for a qualitative leap in administrative and academic management.
The central axis of the next stage will be digital transformation. In an interview with Radio UNNE, the rector announced that work was already underway to modernize technology licenses and integrate tools Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“We believe that implementing solutions with AI will change the management model of governing and decision-making,” said Larroza, highlighting a roadmap in the middle of the discussion in which technology will serve to optimize processes Budget 2026.
Regarding this last point, he expressed optimism about creating a game that would allow not only the survival of the system but also the territorial expansion of the UNNE in the region.
