Bank branches will not be open on December 31 and January 1 due to the New Year holidays, according to Febraban (Brazilian Banking Federation). This Friday (26) as well as December 30 and January 2, opening hours will be normal.
According to Febraban, bank clearings, including TED (Available Electronic Transfer), will not be processed on December 31 and January 1. Consumption bills due on these days can be paid on the next business day without surcharge, but duties and taxes must be paid in advance. Pix will operate normally during the entire period.
“As a rule, taxes already have dates that fit the calendar of national, regional and municipal holidays. If this does not happen, it is advisable to pay in advance or, in the case of titles with a barcode, to schedule payment at ATMs, Internet banks and via the banks’ telephone service,” explains Febraban Deputy Director of Services Walter Tadeu de Faria.
The federation also recommends that customers use electronic means as an alternative to self-service areas in agencies. Banks’ digital channels allow you to make transfers, pay bills, and check your balance and statement. Telephone and correspondent banking services can be used.
Bank slips of customers registered as electronic drawers can be paid via DDA (Authorized Direct Debit).
