BBVA And OpenAI announced this Friday a strategic agreement to revolutionize banking through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Accordingly Carlos TorresPresident of the BBVA, and Sam AltmanCEO and co-founder of OpenAI, the collaboration will enable the development of customer-centric solutions and increase the bank’s operational efficiency.

Our partnership with OpenAI accelerates the native integration of artificial intelligence across the bank to create a smarter, proactive and fully personalized experience and anticipate the needs of each customer“Torres stated in the announcement in San Francisco.
Co-creation and preferential access to advanced technology
After nearly two years of collaboration, BBVA will have priority access to OpenAI’s capabilities, including the most advanced models and specialized talent. Both teams will work together to develop innovative solutions to accelerate the bank’s transformation strategy based on artificial intelligence.
The projects include the creation of a intelligent conversation assistant which accompanies the customer in his daily financial life and offers a highly individual service. In addition, tools are being developed to help business managers interact with customers in unique and efficient ways.
Internal processes and the digital “alter ego”
OpenAI and BBVA will work on systems that optimize internal processes such as risk analysis, software development and routine tasks. Each employee has a digital “alter ego” that mimics the way they work, remembers projects and executes tasks under control, increasing efficiency.
According to Altman and what he confirmed Europe Press“BBVA is a clear example of how a large financial institution can adopt artificial intelligence with real ambition and speed. As we expand our collaboration, BBVA will integrate our AI into the core of its products and operations to fully improve its customers’ banking experience.”
ChatGPT Enterprise for the entire workforce
As part of the agreement is BBVA will implement ChatGPT Enterprise for its more than 120,000 employeess, after a successful pilot with 11,000 users. During the testing phase, 80% of employees used the tool daily, saving an average of three hours per week on repetitive tasks.
The massive deployment will enable a new productivity model, and the bank plans to integrate its services directly into ChatGPT and offer financial attention through the conversational assistant. A demonstration has already been carried out for digital banks in Italy and Germany.

The alliance between BBVA and OpenAI is intended to mark a milestone in the digital transformation of banking. With the combination of technological innovation, internal optimization and personalized customer service, both companies want to establish a new standard in the financial industry and create tangible value in all areas of the bank.
