
This Monday (15/12), the Civil Police launched Operation Cryptonita, aimed at dismantling a gang specialized in theft, extortion and money laundering inside São Paulo. Eight people were arrested.
According to authorities, the investigation revealed that the criminal group broke into a business office, posing as a maintenance crew. Upon entering the scene, the gang took an employee hostage with a gun and forced him to transfer R$300,000 in bitcoins. The victim’s car and other property were also stolen by the criminals.

Police traced the stolen money and reached the bank accounts of the thieves and those responsible for handling the stolen money.
Police operation
- The operation to arrest those involved in the crime took place this Monday (12/15) in the municipalities of Indaiatuba and Salto, inside São Paulo.
- The police action brought together 45 officers and aimed to execute nine arrest warrants and eight search and seizure warrants.
- Eight people were temporarily arrested, namely: Wilson Fernandes Da Silva Junior; Eikenatan Santos Meteli De Matos; Fernando Nabhan Francisco; André Aparecido Oliveira De Azevedo; Grasiella Leopoldino Taurus; Daivid Cezar Da Silva Caribé; Maicon Souza Xavier; and Sabrina Da Silva Ribeiro.
- One person under investigation remains at large.
- In addition, authorities seized a motorcycle, a car, a cell phone, two .16 caliber cartridges, external hard drives, laptops, a tablet, three card machines, nine bank cards, bank documents and statements, several chips and evidence of financial transactions and a laptop with encrypted data.
