From the first minute of Christmas, a scene of common affection ended in tragedy in a house in Jaguariúna, in the Campinas region, in the interior of São Paulo. Driven by jealousy, Caio César dos Santos Bartolomeu, 18, attacked his stepfather with a pocket knife after he kissed his mother, according to civil police records obtained by Metropolises.
The crime occurred around midnight this Christmas Thursday (25/12), in the Vila 7 de Setembro neighborhood. The fatal victim was Leandro Flaeschen Moreira, 40, an assistant computer technician. He died after being struck with a knife by his stepson, according to the filing.

As noted in the police report, Caio did not accept the relationship between his mother, 50-year-old independent Sidnéia Gonçalves dos Santos, and Leandro. At dinner, wishing “Merry Christmas”, Leandro kissed Sidnéia. “The moment the accused stabbed the victim Leandro, who died,” highlights an extract from the civil police report.

Sidneia tried to intervene and was also injured. To the police, she told the police that her son “took a knife out of his pants or shirt pocket, because the weapon was hidden,” and began to hit his companion. The mother had defensive injuries on her hands, according to police records.
Besides her, other people were injured in the confusion and were transported to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) for treatment and observation. Their condition has not been reported.

A 16-year-old girl, Leandro’s daughter, witnessed the entire attack. According to the criminal record, she is autistic, support level II, and “was unconscious at the time of the incident”. The Guardianship Council was contacted and sent the young woman to a temporary home pending contact with family members.
“Blood on the ground”
The residence’s neighbor, retiree Laercio Luiz Rodrigues, 65, reported that he was sleeping when he heard the screams. “(He) found Leandro bleeding on the ground and realized that the victim was dead,” says an extract from the criminal record.
After the attack, Caio fled, but ended up being found by the police a few hours later, after being attacked by some people. He was rescued and taken to the UPA.
At the time of this statement, according to the civil police, the young man “was not in a condition to be questioned”, his speech being affected, probably because of the medication. The interrogation was therefore interrupted.
The weapon used in the crime, a pocket knife with a 9.5 centimeter blade, was seized. The court ordered Caio’s arrest on charges of negligent homicide and four counts of bodily harm.
The young man’s defense has not been located. The space remains open for demonstrations.
