Tupy said on Sunday that its main shareholder, BNDESpar, had requested “the convening of an extraordinary general meeting” to appoint the current Minister of Defense of the Lula government, José Múcio Monteiro Filho, as a member of the “board of directors”, and Tiago Cesar dos Santos as a member of the fiscal council.
According to a relevant fact published by Tupy, the request comes after the resignation of Marcio Bernardo Spata from the board of directors and Marcos Alberto Pereira Motta from the supervisory board.
Tupy said the board would meet in the coming days to deliberate on the appointment. He also added that the next general assembly will elect the entire council.
BNDESpar, the holding arm of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development, controls approximately 30% of Tupy, being the group’s largest shareholder, followed by Previ, with a 27% stake.
