Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) was transported to the surgical center of the private DF Star Hospital, in Brasilia, around 9 a.m. this Thursday (12/25), reported former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro. The politician will undergo surgery to correct two inguinal hernias. He underwent surgery one day after being authorized to leave the PF Superintendence, where he is serving his sentence, to be admitted to the health facility.
Bolsonaro checked in at DF Star on Wednesday morning (12/24), under high security. This is the first time the former president has been released from PF prison since his arrest on November 22.
By order of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), the former president’s room is monitored by two PF agents 24 hours a day, during the hospitalization period. Security teams must also be on alert inside and outside the hospital unit.

Political act before surgery
Before following the procedure from inside the hospital, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) met the press outside and read a letter in which the father confirms his eldest son’s candidacy for president next year.
The former president’s choice for his eldest son was revealed exclusively by Metropoles on December 5, in Paulo Cappelli’s column.
“Throughout my life I have fought difficult battles, paying a high price, with my health and my family, to defend what I believe is best for our Brazil,” Bolsonaro begins in the letter read by Flávio to journalists. “Faced with this scenario of injustice and with the commitment not to let the popular will be silenced, I took the decision to nominate Flávio Bolsonaro as pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic in 2026,” he continues.
The former president continued: “I hand over the most important thing in a father’s life: his own son, to keep the flame of our Brazil alive. I have faith in a conscious and legitimate decision supported by the desire to preserve the representation of those who trusted me.”
