MADRID, December 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Former first lady of Brazil Michelle Bolsonaro confirmed this Saturday that her husband, former President Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2023), underwent another medical procedure, this time to treat his hiccups, just two days after having hernia surgery.
“My love has just entered the operating room for a phrenic nerve block. (…) Nine months of struggle and anguish with daily hiccups have already passed,” he reported through his profile on the social network Instagram, where he hoped that this procedure “would succeed and bring him definitive relief.”
A few minutes later, via the same social network, Michelle Bolsonaro indicated that “the procedure is finished” and that she will remain under observation for another 30 minutes. He also expressed his gratitude to the medical team who treated him.
On Christmas Day, Bolsonaro, after receiving authorization from the country’s Supreme Court, was admitted to a hospital in Brasilia to undergo surgery for an inguinal hernia. The procedure lasted about three and a half hours and doctors said they adjusted her medications for hiccups and gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Bolsonaro, 70, has undergone multiple surgeries to treat abdominal problems, hernias and intestinal obstructions, coinciding with the stabbing he suffered in 2018 while running for president. The former president has been serving his 27-year prison sentence for a coup d’état since the end of November.
