One of the main doctors of Jair Bolsonaro’s team, surgeon Cláudio Birolini, spoke out this Friday (19/12) after the Federal Police (PF) published a report confirming that the former president had to undergo surgery.
In the column, Birolini said that we had to “wait” for the order from STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes authorizing Bolsonaro’s hospitalization. “As soon as he is discharged, we will admit him for pre-operative preparation and surgery,” the doctor said.

After an examination by a PF medical commission on Bolsonaro and examinations of the former president, the company concluded that he “suffered from a bilateral inguinal hernia that requires elective surgical repair.”
Concerning the hiccup presented by the former president, the official expertise of the PF confirmed that the “phrenic nerve block is technically relevant”.
“This Medical Commission understands that it must be carried out as soon as possible, taking into account the refractory nature to established treatments, the deterioration of sleep and nutrition, in addition to accelerating the risk of complications of hernia conditions, due to the increase in intra-abdominal pressure”, says the conclusion of the PF, sent to Alexandre de Moraes.

The expertise of the PF in Bolsonaro
Bolsonaro underwent a medical examination on Wednesday (17/12) at the Regional Superintendence of the Federal Police complex in Brasilia, where the former president has been detained since November 22.
The expertise was determined by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who also requested the sending of the examinations and medical reports presented by Bolsonaro’s defense for analysis by experts from the federal police.
