Bolsonaro’s former advisor requests to appear before the International Criminal Court – 04/12/2025 – Arbitration Tribunal

Former Presidential Advisor Felipe Martins asked Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), on Thursday (4) for permission to personally pursue his trial in the coup plot operation, in Brasilia.

Martins has been living in Ponta Grossa (PR) with a series of restrictions since Moraes was released from prison in August 2024, and cannot leave the city.

The accused is accused of contributing to writing the so-called coup project, and is part of a group whose trial will begin on Tuesday (9) and end on December 17.

“The personal presence of the accused in procedural proceedings of a decisive nature represents not only a legitimate expression of interest, but also the full exercise of a constitutionally guaranteed personal right,” said the legal document signed by lawyers Jeffrey Cecquini and Ricardo Schaefer Fernandez.

According to the defenders, Martinez’s intention to appear was “not guided by provocation or arrogance.”

They stated that “the authorization now requested represents the minimum gesture to restore procedural humanity that must, by any hypothesis, accompany the exercise of criminal jurisdiction.”

The lawyers are also demanding that Martinez not be held responsible for any photos published by the press, as he is prohibited from revealing himself in interviews or on social media. It also provides flight details to and from Brasilia and the hotel you intend to stay at.

The former counselor obtained permission from Moraes to attend the session in which he became an accused, in the first semester.
